Shortlist: The 2024 Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction

Ursula Le Guin is the reason I write novels. Her work is a big part of my brain and heart—the reason I had the courage to move across the country to Portland, to pursue writing as a career, and to recenter myself and continue writing through the long journey of learning how to build fictional worlds and be a professional novelist. I’m honored to be here alongside these other novels, and especially to have my writing recognized as echoing a small part of Le Guin’s legacy.
