Preorder links and COVER REVEAL for The Skin and Its Girl
I would say that “it’s finally here,” but in truth, this GORGEOUS cover from Ballantine Books has been in the world and in my heart ever since May 2022. But because the publishing team is so damn good at their jobs and so far ahead of schedule for the book’s April 2023 release, I have been (badly) keeping it a secret all summer. As of last week, however, I am finally sharing it with the world.
If you really want to bump up your book karma, preorder it anywhere you buy your books. There are links on the Penguin Random House page, or for a slight discount, you can place an order through your nearest indie bookstore on Bookshop.org.

Advance Praise
“Imaginative, bold, and vividly drawn, Cypher’s tale of exile, inheritance, and the healing power of love will crack you open.”
—NADIA OWUSU, author of Aftershocks
“Beautifully detailed as a piece of Palestinian embroidery, Sarah Cypher weaves a brilliant tale of family, magic, and enduring legacy. This bold, vivid novel will speak to readers across genders, cultures, and identities. A must-read.”
—DIANA ABU-JABER, author of Fencing with the King and Crescent
“The Skin and Its Girl is a thrilling ode to the power of storytelling, to a story’s ability to illuminate and conceal, to preserve and destroy. Betty Rummani—born with cobalt blue skin, into a family rich with ingenuity and secrets—is one of the most memorable and original protagonists I’ve come across in ages. She leapt straight off the page and made a home in my imagination. I loved falling under the spell of Sarah Cypher’s hypnotic debut.”
—LAURA VAN DEN BERG, author of I Hold a Wolf by the Ears
